Shuzenji, together with Shuzenji, founded by Kukai (Kobo Daishi) in 807, is said to be the oldest hot spring resort on the Izu Peninsula.
At the far end of the quiet hot spring town along the Katsura River lies the Oninosumika, an all-rooms-away-from-home-style inn, which is combined with a tasteful Japanese garden.

Guest room

All seven guest rooms are tastefully furnished based on the sukiya style.
The hotel is equipped with an open-air bath and an indoor bath into which the famous Shuzenji Onsen hot spring water is poured.

Onsen

The history of Shuzenji Onsen, which is over 1,200 years old, dates back to 807 during the Heian period when Kukai (Kobo-Daishi) used his walking stick (dokko) to pierce a rock on the Katsura River, causing a gush of water.
The alkaline simple hot spring water, with a pH value of 8.6 and metasilicic acid of 63.2 mg/kg, is odourless, tasteless, mildly stimulating and gentle on the skin.
It is a hot water for beauty and beautiful skin that neutralises sebum while removing dirt and leaving the skin smooth and soft.

Cuisine

A carefully selected range of seasonal ingredients from all parts of Japan, sourced from the most delicious places of the season at the time.
The unique taste of this place combines the traditional techniques of Japanese cuisine with a playful approach to seasonal cycles and fresh ingredients.

Facility

The Japanese atmosphere is conveyed by the vividly coloured pine trees and autumn leaves in the garden and the moss-covered rocks. All rooms are set apart from each other and are connected by a Japanese garden.

From Shuzenji station
From Shuzenji Station on the Sunzu Line of the Izu Hakone Railway, it is a 10-minute taxi ride.
The bus route from Shuzenji Station to Shuzenji Onsen is approximately a 2-minute walk from the Shuzenji Elementary School bus stop and a 13-minute walk from the Shuzenji Onsen bus stop.
